Florida Fishing Reports, Detailed Fishing Reports

Please enjoy our fishing reports and please post your own report for your state or region. Doesn't matter where you live or what region you fish as we try to display fishing reports for all types and styles of fishing. Fly fishing, surf fishing, wade fishing, to fishing 100 miles offshore in the Gulf Stream off the mid-atlantic coast are just some of the types of fishing reports we display. And that was just the saltwater fishing which is far outnumbered by all the types of freshwater fishing reports we see. We get freshwater reports for bass fishing in Mississippi to mountain stream fishing for trout in Colorado to Salmon fishing in the Great Lakes. Speaking of the Great Lakes, Michigan seems to be very popular for charter boat Captains and their fishing reports.

Some anglers just like to read certain fishing reports from exotic locales and dream about the day they will be able to take a fishing trip to whatever fishing paradise they are thinking about. For instance we have Key West fishing reports that tell us about extreme light tackle fishing and the excitiment of fighting a 100 pound tarpon in 3 feet of water while he sometimes walks on water during his effort to escape the pull of the angler and his rod n reel. Key West provides plenty of fishing action but for some it is not a likely destination so they read the reports and dream about a Key West fishing trip. Who knows? In time maybe those anglers that dream about fishing in a far off paradise will get their wish eventually and instead of their own Florida Fishing Reports they will write a report about their tropical island fishing vacation.

Fishing Report:

Our weather in southwest Florida around Pine Island continues to search for its consistent summer pattern. A low pressure system brought all day rains for the holiday weekend and now we are on a high with thunderstorms few and far between. It’s all good though as the rainy days brought down the high water temperatures and now we are experiencing beautiful weather to take advantage of it.

Our best tarpon fishing came from the beaches from Boca Grande Pass to Blind Pass. The fish aren’t as thick as they were in previous weeks but there are still plenty, you just need to hunt a little harder. I have also noticed plenty of snook on the beaches, most are males in the mid twenty inch range with a few larger females mixed in.

We found redfish around oyster bars in northern Pine Island Sound at the beginning of the falling tide, most of the fish we caught were in the thirty inch class. No big schools, but a couple here and there. Sea trout up to nineteen inches are still running on the deeper grass flats as are plenty of Spanish mackerel and sharks.

We should get back into a summer weather pattern soon with clear mornings for fishing before the heat of the day followed with afternoon storms to cool things back down.
